The Power of Multi-Generational Ministry: Why KOZ Matters

When you look around at most churches today, everyone is divided. Kids are in one space, teens in another, men’s ministry in a corner, and seniors somewhere else. Rarely do we see generations learning and serving together. That’s where Kids Outdoor Zone (KOZ) is different.

KOZ is one of the few ministries where an 80-year-old man and an 8-year-old boy can sit side by side, fish together, share stories, and learn from one another. That’s the heart of multi-generational ministry and it’s transforming lives.

Why Multi-Generational Ministry Is So Rare

In most churches, age groups are split. It may seem practical, but something gets lost when the older generation isn’t pouring into the younger. Boys miss the chance to learn from seasoned men of faith, and older men miss out on the joy of mentoring the next generation.

KOZ changes that. When men and boys gather monthly in the outdoors, they’re building real relationships rooted in faith, adventure, and purpose.

Young Men Can’t Sit on the Sidelines

For too long, we’ve given younger men a pass: “They’re busy with kids and little league.” But the church desperately needs them. Boys need to see dads and young leaders stepping in, not sitting out.

Robert Lewis, founder of Men’s Fraternity, once suggested that older men should intentionally invite younger men to sit at their table. The same principle applies here: seasoned KOZ leaders should reach out, invite, and walk alongside younger men. That’s how we build a true brotherhood.

The World Needs Men of the Church

We live in a world at war. The enemy isn’t slowing down. It’s not politics or social clubs that will rescue the next generation, it’s the men of the church.

Men who open their Bibles.
Men who show boys how to treat women with respect.
Men who model integrity, grit, and faith.

That’s the calling of KOZ. When men gather to mentor boys, the ripple effect strengthens families, churches, and entire communities.

Calluses, Dirty Hands, and Changed Lives

There’s an old saying: boys with dirty hands are healthier. At KOZ, dirty hands mean fishing, building fires, learning tools, or hiking trails. It also means boys learning life lessons from men who have walked the road before them.

But here’s the key: you can’t plow forever without passing it on. If we aren’t sharing our wisdom, experience, and faith with the next generation, then we’re missing the mission Christ gave us.

Ready to Step In?

Multi-generational ministry is rare, but you can be part of it through KOZ. Whether you’re 25 or 75, there’s a place for you to mentor boys, share your faith, and be part of the rescue mission.
