The most recent attack on our boys is a commercial by Gillet razors. They claim you and your boys are by design brutal, mean, beast that need taming. They claim you, we, are raising our boys with toxic masculinity. It was last year the commercial by Geico Insurance portrayed a pair of boys on the side of the road with a flat who had no idea how to fix it. Their mom said thanks to Geico for rescuing them. This is who they portray us as men, as a ministry, as leaders in our churches and families? This is not who we are or how we are training our KOZ boys, it’s not.
Let’s see what God says about men in the bible. Who Jesus was? What is it that God charges the men in the bible to do? What is it he says to us?
Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 13:1-13 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;
In 1 Kings 2:1-3 Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying, I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man; And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:”
Satan is seeking to destroy the men of our world. He is slowly, piece by piece chipping away at who God tells a man to be. Social media and society is killing our boys and without a strong man in their life teaching them the way of the man they will succumb to his voice through these attacks.
I taught my boys to say yes mam, open the door for every woman, get up and offer her a seat. If they see a woman in distress they offer to help. They watch their words and the level of their voice around a woman. They are good men. I teach all my KOZ boys the same.
My daughter expects all the same from the young men who court her. She also has her personal carry licenses, changed her own oil in her 2005 F150 pickup during high school, was runner up Queen of the Rodeo and loves Jesus with her whole heart.
I saw a post by a KOZ grandma today on her church Facebook.
“I also want to mention another ministry that has blessed our family…
KOZ leaders have also surrounded my precious grandson with love and manly companionship as I have adopted him since his parents struggle with addiction. My prayers have been answered as they are teaching him how to be a man who is successful and passionately loves and serves our Savior. I have so much hope for his future. When my boys were young, they didn’t have a group of Christian men to surround them and fill in the gap of a missing dad. I’m so grateful for this ministry and knowing my grandson will have many “dads” and friends growing up to help direct him to grow and serve others by paying God’s blessings forward by reaching down and lifting up others who need to feel loved and whole. I’m grateful they encourage him to pray for his Daddy, my son. Out of that, he sees God work in my adult sons life too. It’s healing the entire family, not just a little boy who needs a father figure. You’ve made a difference in our lives and we’re grateful for your investment in KOZ.
Thank you Vertical, for being the hands and feet of Jesus to my family. I will forever be grateful.”
Stand firm men. What you are doing matters a lot. You are good, strong, worthy men and I stand with you, shoulder to shoulder on the front lines for the boys. Pure ministry brothers, pure.
Regulators, Mount up.
