THE KOZ HARVEST TEAM PRAYER:

Lord, Thank you for making us strong and fierce warriors for you. We hunt, we fish and we share our faith with others. God Bless America. -Amen-

The VERSE of KOZ - Isaiha 30 – 31: Though youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.

What We Do:

The Kids Outdoor Zone is simple, involve boys in outdoor adventure, specifically in most situations hunting and fishing, and teach them to understand how to be men of integrity and honor. To teach them how to lead a family and how to find answers to the problems they will be faced with in their world through the Word of God and the leadership of Godly mentors. We base these groups in qualified churches.

In Genesis God places Adam, the first man, in the woods, a lush wonderful place with plants and animals. He tells him that he is in charge and he can hunt and fish all he wants. It was a gift from God, the outdoors. Man was made to participate in the outdoors.

We place Godly men in the lives of boys, men that are committed to the relationship and to mentoring these boys. Men that will be there when they need them, men they can talk to, men they can learn from, true men who care.

We train men to lead. They learn to lead their lives in Gods spirit and will. They learn to lead their families, and they learn to lead boys to Christ through outdoor opportunities.

The Statistics:

It is staggering how many boys are being raised without direction, without a man to speak into their lives, to teach them what is expected of them and how to be a man. They are not learning simple things like how a man tucks in his shirt or should react in challenging relational situations. Many are mentored by other lost boys that have never learned how to be men. The statistics are overwhelming in today’s society. According to Custodial Mothers and Fathers and Their Child Support: 2003, released by the U.S. Census Bureau in July, 2006, there are approximately 14 million single parents in the United States today, and those parents are responsible for raising 21.6 million children.

Again statistically 83.1 % of those single families are mothers and over 50% of those are working full time. Almost half of those mothers are raising two or more children. Many of those boys today, sadly, do not have a father participating in their lives. Lost boys beget lost boys. In today’s fast paced world and urban responsibilities the uncles, grandfathers and neighbors are not participating the lives of the boys in their families or neighborhoods anymore.

We do not want to negate or say that there are not single parents doing a good job with raising their children, there certainly are. However, statistically they are struggling as a group. This all being said we have found lost boys in the perfect American families as well. Fathers who struggle to find a connection to their sons, fathers who are over committed at work or with their hobbies, fathers in bondage with drugs, alcohol or other addictions that keep them from teaching the lessons of manhood. Those numbers are difficult to assimilate, but they are real.

Why Are The Boys Not Outside Playing?

Boys are drawn to the outdoors. They are hunters and gatherers, it is in their DNA, it is what they do. Boys are drawn to the batch of trees in the yard or on the block. They pick up stick and hunt; they tie on strings to the sticks and fish.

So where are the kids, why aren’t they in the woods. There are many reasons they don’t make it outdoors. One is urbanization, concrete and city streets. Fewer creeks, parks and wooded areas where kids can play. Fewer mentors to take and teach the skills of the outdoors is another. Traditionally it was the father who taught the boy to hunt and fish, without the father the link is broken in most situations.

This is a program designed to be taken to churches and groups across the country and bring the men who love the outdoors and the boys who long for male relationships and adventure together. This is KOZ.

CONSIDERING FUNDING?

When you read this – if you are considering not supporting our group because we are a spiritual organization please contemplate this. It is a fact that when hurricane Katrina hit the southern US it was churches and religious groups who were there the next day giving support. In may situations it has been religious and spiritual organizations that have taken the call and been there in times of need. As you will see in many of the reports we have compiled, even government and non-religious organizations and groups are finally admitting that the church and spiritually based organizations are making a huge difference and at a time when government is failing. Please consider our organization, or others like ours for the simple fact that we are making a difference and can do more, better, faster and with commitment. When it comes down to it, is that not what you want to be a part of?
